Terms of Service
Last updated: 29 July 2026
These terms govern your firm’s use of Freeboard, provided by Yehuda Levy(“Freeboard”, “we”, “us”). By subscribing to or using Freeboard, the firm and its users agree to these terms.
The service
Freeboard is deadline and file-integrity control software for law firms: matters and files, tasks, critical and limitation date tracking, conflict checks at intake, confidential matters and ethical walls, team workload, and a simple desk booking board. Each firm is deployed on its own isolated database.
Freeboard is not a billing, accounting or trust accounting system, does not produce invoices, and is not a document management system. It records time in minutes only and carries links to documents held elsewhere. It performs date arithmetic against a holiday list your firm confirms; it is not a jurisdiction rules engine and does not give legal advice.
Accounts
A firm administrator sets up accounts for the firm’s users and controls their roles and access. You are responsible for keeping login credentials secure and for the activity of accounts at your firm. You must be authorised to bind your firm to these terms.
Payment and billing
Subscriptions and one-time onboarding fees are sold and processed by Paddle.com, which acts as our reseller and merchant of record. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s buyer terms. Subscriptions renew automatically for the billing period chosen (monthly or annual) until cancelled. Prices are stated in Canadian dollars unless agreed otherwise. Any applicable taxes are handled by Paddle at checkout.
Acceptable use
You may not use Freeboard to break the law, infringe others’ rights, attempt to access another firm’s data, probe or circumvent security, or resell the service without our written agreement. You are responsible for the accuracy of the data your firm enters, including deadlines and limitation dates.
Your data
Your firm’s data remains your firm’s. Our handling of it is described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for keeping your own records as your professional obligations require; Freeboard is a tool that supports your practice, not a substitute for your professional judgement.
Availability and support
We aim to keep Freeboard available and to fix problems promptly, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance and provider outages can occur. Support is provided by email at hello@getfreeboard.com.
Disclaimers
Freeboard helps a firm track deadlines and screen conflicts, but it does not practise law and does not guarantee that a deadline will be met or a conflict identified. The firm and its lawyers remain responsible for meeting limitation periods and for their professional and ethical duties. The service is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the service is limited to the amount your firm paid for Freeboard in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including missed deadlines, lost matters, or lost profit.
Termination
Your firm may cancel at any time; cancellation stops the next renewal and is handled as described in the Refund Policy. We may suspend or end access for a serious or repeated breach of these terms. On termination we will make your firm’s data available for export for a reasonable period before deletion.
Changes
We may update these terms. Where a change is material we will give reasonable notice. Continued use after a change takes effect means the change is accepted.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, and the courts of Ontario, Canada have jurisdiction, unless a mandatory law where your firm operates says otherwise.
